in Afghanistan in the pass 10 years, there were 29 crashes, and 10 of them were brought down by hostile fire. Among all these crashes, most of the time troops survived even if the chopper was shot down. It was a lucky shot. As I remember, it has happened only three times that a Chinook went down and took everyone with it.
